Who are we?

I’m an investment fund advisor with Investia Financial Services Inc., one of Canada’s largest independent dealers, boasting over 56 billion dollars in assets under administration (as of February 28, 2022), with thousands of advisors across various provinces.

You may also find me listed on the Investia official website: Samuel Li – Investia.

Here’s a Relationship Disclosure Information Document, outlining our commitment to you, the governing body that regulates us, and your rights as an investor.

Being part of Investia allows my clients access to investment solutions from over 60 reputable companies, including AGF Investments, CI Investments, Fidelity, Dynamic, Mackenzie, Franklin Templeton, BMO, CIBC, TD, RBC, Sunlife, just to name a few.

Unlike many banking institutions that may promote their own products, we are independent and have no quota requirements, ensuring that my team and I always work in your best interest.

Investia has a product research team conducting sophisticated analysis on investment products from various companies exclusive to Investia advisors. Coupled with my extensive research, we can build portfolios tailor-made to our clients’ suitability.

Here are the types of accounts we can manage for you:

  • Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP)/ Registered Retirement Income Fund (RRIF)
  • Locked-in Retirement Account (LIRA)/ Locked-in RRSP/ Life Income Fund (LIF)
  • Tax Free Savings Account (TFSA)
  • Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP)
  • Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP)
  • First Home Savings Account (FHSA)
  • Non Registered Account

So let’s go over the process we take when working with clients:

Step 1: Getting to Know You

How could we assist you if we don’t know anything about you? So we’ll first discuss what you’re trying to achieve with your investments. Is it saving for a child’s education, buying a home, or perhaps preparing for retirement?

We’ll have an in-depth discussion to determine your investor profile, considering factors like your long-term growth expectations, immediate income requirements, comfort with risks and volatility, and prior investment experience or knowledge.

Through these discussions and a review of your overall financial situation, we can devise an actionable plan.

We can meet virtually through an online platform. If you’d prefer an in-person discussion, we can also schedule you a meeting at our branch office in Markham.
(Note: Meetings are by appointments only.)

Step 2: Design a Custom-Made Portfolio

After understanding your objectives and risk tolerance, I’ll design a well-diversified portfolio that suits your needs, utilizing investments like Global Equities, Canadian Equities, Fixed Incomes, or Alternative Products.

Step 3: Go Over the Investment Proposal

With a sophisticated portfolio construction tool, I’ll create an investment proposal for your review. You’ll get a clear view of the portfolio’s past performance, allocation, holdings, and risks involved. You’ll also be provided with the Fund Facts for a clear understanding of the individual holdings suggested in the portfolio.

We’ll review them together to ensure you fully understand and are comfortable with the suggestions. Upon your confirmation, we’ll send you the documents for review and electronic signature through our secure portal.

Step 4: Review and Regular Updates

Our journey doesn’t end here. I’ll continue to monitor your portfolio and keep you posted with any updates or suggestions. It’s essential to review your financial situation regularly, adjusting the investment strategy accordingly to any significant changes, like a job promotion, a new baby, receiving an inheritance, purchasing a home, or starting a new business.
